Shade Care Tips

A little routine care keeps your shades looking showroom-fresh for years.

Dust shades regularly with a soft microfiber cloth or a vacuum brush attachment on low suction.
Raise and lower shades gently — smooth, even motion keeps the mechanism running true.
Keep fabric shades dry; blot up any splashes near kitchens and bathrooms promptly.
Avoid harsh chemical cleaners that can discolor the fabric or damage coatings.
For zebra and solar shades, spot-clean with a lightly damp cloth and let air-dry fully.

How to Measure Your Windows

Accurate measurements are the foundation of a perfect fit. Here's a quick overview — but remember, your free in-home estimate includes professional measuring.

1

Measure the width

Measure inside the window opening at the top, middle, and bottom. Record the smallest number.

2

Measure the height

Measure the height on the left, center, and right. Record the smallest measurement.

3

Check for square

Measure both diagonals. If they differ, your opening isn't perfectly square — note it for the installer.

4

Note the depth

Measure how deep the window is to confirm inside or outside mount works best.

Cleaning Your Shades

Most shades clean up easily with the right gentle approach.

  • Start dry: remove loose dust with a duster or vacuum brush before any wet cleaning.
  • For light marks, use a barely-damp cloth with mild soap, then blot dry.
  • Never soak fabric shades or scrub with abrasive pads.
  • Lower the shade fully and let it air-dry completely before rolling it back up.
  • For stubborn spots on solar or woven shades, a soft toothbrush lifts debris from the weave.
